Our snow day policy is to have employees work from home when a storm is severe enough to cause the school district where you live to close. In these cases, the COO will make an announcement via email and Slack. Given the difficulty of forecasting the weather, an announcement could come as early as the prior afternoon and as late as the morning of the snow day. In the absence of an announcement, employees should be prepared to work from the office.
In some cases, districts or individual schools will start two hours late rather than closing. For the purposes of our snow day policy, delayed starts are treated the same as closures and therefore also trigger a work-from-home day.
To prevent any confusion that may arise from conflicting reports, we will rely on 9News as our reference. The complete list of school delays and closings is updated frequently at this link:
That said, our primary concern is safety and mother nature doesn’t create storms that fit neatly within school district boundaries. If your particular commute seems too treacherous or difficult, please let your manager know and take a work-from-home day.
If the company declares a snow day, employees should not submit a request in Timetastic.
