Things are getting better BUT
The 7-day average of new cases is the lowest its been since October of last year, BUT it’s still higher than it was when we started our first stay-at-home phase and the rate of decline is flattening out. As Dr. Fauci said, “We are plateauing at an unacceptably high level.” He was talking about the country, but the data in Colorado exemplifies the problem.

Through yesterday, 44 Colorado counties had moved to level blue on the COVID-19 dial, BUT only one of those – Jefferson – is in the Denver metro area. Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, and Douglas counties are still at level yellow.

Colorado hit a new record last week, administering over 250,000 vaccinations, BUT only 672,000 Coloradans have been fully immunized. Colorado’s adult (18+) population is over 4.5 million and 71% of them are in the metro area. To make matters worse, the weather is forcing most providers to cancel appointments this weekend. My wife was supposed to get her second shot tomorrow but was rescheduled to next Saturday.

What Does It Mean?
It means there’s always a way to spin the data to lend more support to one side or the other! The trick is see the proverbial “forest for the trees,” which in this case is – things are still getting better, just not as quickly or as smoothly as we would like.
We’ll continue to make informed, data-driven decisions. For now, that means we will continue working remotely. Soon we’ll have some new hires to think about and I’d hate to onboard them without some in-person exposure, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Keep calm, keep masking.
On a related note, the building decided to upgrade the HVAC system. As a result, our suite is in a state of disarray. The furniture has been tarped, ceiling tiles are down, and there’s plenty of dust in the air. We’ll have even better ventilation when we return, but please avoid going into the office for anything other than brief visits to water plants, pick up paperwork, etc.

As always thank you Rick!
Great info! Thanks, Rick!
